Civil Documentation
RAGJ's Justice and Rule of Law (JRoL) programs focus on providing legal assistance to marginalized, vulnerable, and internally displaced individuals in the crisis-affected Northwest and Southwest regions. A key element of these initiatives is the mobile, online and onsite Legal Aid Clinic, which offers support to help these vulnerable personnes obtain civil documents such as birth certificates, national identification cards, disability cards etc.
The Asset-Based Community-Led Development (ABCD) approaches in Civil Documentation aims to empower communities by equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to navigate the often complex process of acquiring legal documentation. RAGJ believes that having a legal identity is a fundamental right, and through this program, ensures that individuals can access the necessary documents to:
- Exercise their legal rights
- Access essential public services like healthcare and education
- Secure employment opportunities
- Claim property and inheritance rights
How is this Support accomplished
RAGJ’s dedicated Legal Aid Clinic provides step-by-step guidance and personalized legal assistance, helping marginalised persons understand the civil documentation process from beginning to end.
Why Civil Documentation Matters
Without proper legal documentation, individuals are often excluded from basic societal services and protections exposing them to harassement, arbitrary arrest and detention and other forms of legal violations. RAGJ is committed to ensuring that marginalized, vulnerable and internally displaced persons in and arround the crises affected areas regardless of age, gender, or diversity can secure their legal identity and fully participate in their communities.
